Review: Love You Like a Romance Novel (Lovesongs #2) by Megan Derr

Synopsis:

Jet gave up everything to make it to the top of rock. On track to take over his family’s business and wealth, he defied everyone to start at the bottom and work his way up to become drummer of one of the world’s most popular bands, Forever and a Dai. And his family might have forgiven him if he hadn’t taken his cousin Dai with him.

Jason is everything Jet chose not to be: an obedient son, a powerful and respected lawyer, wealthy, established, and set to inherit the family kingdom. Dai’s brother, and Jet’s cousin, he is a constant reminder of everything Jet should be and is not.

But everybody has secrets, and those secrets are all about to come out.

My Thoughts:

This is a love story between a lawyer and a drummer  to make it even better they are cousins (forbidden Love) Jason and Jet are in love-hate relationship ... the story started when they were already fuck buddies because Jet blackmailed Jason to sleep with him or he will let every one know that Jason is a romance writer.

"... My family is a goddamn soap opera. I'm just waiting for somebody to die and then show back up twelve episodes later..."

This is basically what this book is about a complicated romance and add to that the juicy family drama, the mafia characters who issue threats here and there and you will find yourself in a world of entertainment and enjoyment.

I loved the interactions between the family even when its mostly problems and issues. I loved all the side characters and how Jet friends stood by him when they found about his relationship with Jason.

I love this book it was so much fun and sweet with lots and lots of fun family drama … I enjoy soap opera shows and talk about them just as much as I Loved reading this book.

Review: The Missing Butterfly (Lovesongs #1) by Megan Derr

Synopsis:

Cassidy Monarch had dreams—to sing, to be famous, to tour the world at the head of his own rock band. Then his parents were killed in a tragic accident, leaving him to raise his two siblings. Determined to hold on to what remained of his family, Cassidy settled into an ordinary life, his dreams of fame reduced to occasional nights of singing at karaoke dives. But his careful, ordinary life began to fray with his new job, and the beautiful, charming boss who reminds him of all the things he tried to stop wanting.

Malcolm Osborne is a classic rags to riches story, a foster child who wound up with the perfect family and more money than he knows what to do with. He's wealthy, beautiful, successful, and completely miserable. Then he hires a new worker for his office, a young, hard-working man with a sadness in his eyes that Malcolm aches to banish, hoping that in doing so he will be rid of his own loneliness as well.

My Thoughts:

I love reading Megan Derr’s books but so far I only read her paranormal/fantasy books. This is a contemporary story … its sweet, cute and funny … when I started reading it I just didn’t want to put it down. It is the type of books that make you happy while reading and keep the happiness  for days after you are done reading it.

This book felt like a cinderella story with Cassidy being the poor worker and Malcom being the millionaire. Honestly, I fall in love with both Cassidy and Malcolm form the start.

Cassidy lost his dream of becoming a rock start when he was 18 because of tragic accident taking his parents and leaving him to raise his two siblings … he didn’t want his sister and brother to go into foster care, so Cassidy changed who he really is and worked so hard to keep them and made sure that they have everything they needed. Cassidy can be cute and shy but to protect the people he love he can be tough and confident … also sexy, hot and with a great voice  I really loved Cassidy character.

Malcolm is the millionaire but he chooses to work as an office manager so he can have some normalcy in his crazy life :D he has two brothers  loves and fights with each other almost always … I loved their bickering throughout the book it’s so funny. Malcolm is attracted to bad boys who leave him beaten up every time he dump them or try to leave them for one reason or the another.

This book was so sweet and happy … I enjoyed every minute of it and I also loved the relationship of the siblings in this books all the teasing, threat and the embarrassing childhood stories it was so fun and amusing … I loved to see Cassidy and Malcolm comes together they really the sweetest couple I read about in so long :D

Review: Skip Beat [Manga] By Hiro Mashima

Genre: Comedy, Shoujo, Romance and Drama
Tankoubon (Volumes): 27 – OnGoing
Released: 2002 to (?)
Age Rating: Older Teen (16+)
Published By (US): VIZ Media LLC [ShojoBeat]

Synopsis:

Kyouko Mogami followed her true love Sho to Tokyo to support him while he made it big as an idol. But he’s casting her out now that he’s famous! Kyouko won’t suffer in silence … she’s going to get her sweet revenge by beating Sho in show biz!

My Thought:

Skip Beat is a shojo Manga, which tell the story of a 16 year old Kyouko. Kyouko’s life has always known only one aim which is to please others. It starts with her mother who didn’t care much for her, or Sho’s family, who took her in after she was abandoned by her mother.

Then one day her childhood friend sho asks Kyouko who is consider a country bumpkin, if she wants to go to the city with him but what sho really wanted is to use her as stepping stone; to reach his goal which is to become a star. After Kyouko found out that he was only using her, he make her awakens another side in her.

After that Kyouko changed from being an innocent girl to a woman full of the desire of revenge towards the man that used her; but she didn’t kow that, in her way to making him suffer and cry at her feet, she would begain a whole new life into the show business and find herself having a great talent and love towards acting which make Kyouko some sort of cute, joyful, and full of purpose woman while also being a woman who holds grudges and acts in some crazy and unexpected ways.

Lets me tell you a little bit about Shou Fuwa and his real name is Shoutarou. He keeps it hidden because he finds it as very old and traditional name. Sho had no qualms about tricking Kyouko into going with him to Tokyo so she could be a free servant for him. He also had even less qualms about being extremely cruel to her when she discovered this. Sho eventually figured out that Kyouko  was in L.M.E., and was surprised to see her transformation which helped revealed that he has more feelings for her than he originally thought.

The second male lead in this manga is Ren Tsuruga. Ren is, in outward appearances, and extremely nice and polite star. However, he shows his true self whenever he deals with Kyoko. Alsthough at times teasing, he harbors and unrequited love for Kyouko. As the story progresses, flashbacks reveal a past with Kyouko when she was smaller, however, Kyouko is still unaware of this.

Overall, this manga is so AMAZING and AWESOME … I love it so much. In fact, it’s one of my favorite manga.
